Meet Jeri Kay Kao
Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor
Healing that engages the mind, body, and nervous system.
Somatic regulation and compassionate care.
Finding the right therapist matters.
Many people begin their search for counseling feeling overwhelmed.
You may have already read books, talked to friends, or tried to work through things on your own.
And yet something inside still feels unsettled.
Therapy offers a place to slow down, reflect, and begin to understand what your mind and nervous system have been carrying.
“Healing happens when the mind and nervous system begin to feel safe again.”
My approach
Healing rarely happens through insight alone.
Over time I became increasingly interested in the way our nervous systems hold the experiences we have lived through.
At ThinkSpace, therapy is not just about understanding your story.
It is about helping your mind and body rediscover a sense of safety, regulation, and possibility.
Professional Background
I hold a Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling and a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy.
I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2017 and specialize in working with trauma, dissociation, and the lasting effects of childhood physical, emotional, and sexual abuse.
In addition to counseling, I am trained in the NADA Five-Point Protocol (5NP), an evidence-informed auricular acupuncture technique that supports nervous system regulation. Many clients find that combining therapy with this restorative approach helps the body release stress and settle more deeply into the healing process.
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor and provide supervision to counselors working toward licensure in Texas.
What clients often experience in therapy.
Clients often come to therapy feeling:
• overwhelmed or anxious
• disconnected from themselves
• impacted by trauma or painful experiences
• unsure how to move forward
Together we work to understand your story, restore a sense of safety in the nervous system, and help you move toward a life that feels more grounded and meaningful.
Beginning therapy
Taking the first step toward therapy can feel like a big decision.
If you’re considering counseling, I invite you to begin with a brief phone consultation so we can talk about what you’re looking for and whether ThinkSpace might be a good fit for you.
